LG has introduced its 2025 premium OLED television lineup, showcasing remarkable brightness, cutting-edge AI capabilities, and support for 165Hz gaming, elevating the excitement at the current CES in Las Vegas. Consistent with previous releases, the new 2025 “Evo” series, which includes the LG M5 and LG G5 OLED models, features significant enhancements designed to captivate both movie lovers and gamers. What enhancements can we expect in the 2025 LG OLED TVs?

Alpha 11 Gen 2 Processor
It is important to highlight that the OLED Evo M5 and OLED Evo G5 models will feature LG’s latest Alpha 11 Gen 2 processor. According to the company, this new processor delivers enhanced performance along with significantly improved AI and machine learning capabilities, resulting in superior picture and sound quality when compared to the already well-regarded LG G4 series.
The second-generation Alpha 11 processor excels at analyzing and enhancing low-resolution and low-quality images, providing sharper and more natural upscaling outcomes. Furthermore, LG’s established dynamic tone mapping system has reached a “professional” level, offering users and calibrators enhanced precision in color and detail display when configuring and fine-tuning HDR images for various viewing environments.
On the audio front, the updated Alpha 11 processor now supports the playback of all audio sources, including basic stereo, in a virtual surround sound setup. This is an upgrade from the 2024 virtual 9.1.2 configuration, which is expected to yield better tonal balance and clarity. Notably, one of the most striking advancements in LG’s 2025 Evo premium OLED TVs will be the increased brightness of the new M5 and G5 displays.
The second-generation Alpha 11 processor can more thoroughly analyze and enhance low-resolution, low-quality images, delivering sharper, more natural upscaling results.
The newly introduced Brightness Booster Ultimate system integrates cutting-edge OLED Micro Lens Array technology with sophisticated pixel color and light management, powered by the innovative Alpha 11 processor. This system is reported to achieve peak brightness levels that are three times greater than those of standard OLED televisions, such as LG’s B-series models.
While LG has not disclosed the specific nit count for the enhanced brightness of the new Evo OLEDs, the company has indicated that this feature will be exclusive to the G5 and M5 models, available in sizes of 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches. Based on the brightness metrics from last year’s LG B4 and G4 models, it is anticipated that brightness in a 10% window could reach approximately 1900 nits, with potentially higher values in smaller measurement windows.
In its preview of the 2025 Evo OLED TVs, LG highlights that this increased brightness enhances visible detail across various brightness levels, all while maintaining OLED’s esteemed reputation for exceptional pixel-level light and color control.

Improved Filmmaker Mode
The latest LG Evo screens have been validated by independent evaluator UL Solutions for “Perfect Black” and “Perfect Color,” alongside achieving 100% color accuracy certification from Intertek and “Quick Stability with Image Quality” recognition from TUV Rheinland.
Additionally, the M5 and G5 models feature the inaugural version of Filmmaker Mode, which includes ambient light compensation for LG OLED TVs. This innovative mode enables the precise settings of Filmmaker Mode to adjust dynamically to varying lighting conditions, guaranteeing that viewers experience consistent HDR picture quality regardless of the room’s brightness.
4K/165Hz
A significant advancement in the gaming sector for the 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch LG G5 models is the introduction of support for 4K/165Hz variable refresh rate gaming signals, an upgrade from the previous 4K/144Hz limitation. Additionally, the M5 series now enables wireless video signal transmission between external connection boxes and gaming displays at resolutions up to 4K/144Hz.
The LG M5 and G5 televisions are also compatible with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium VRR. Notably, they are the first TVs to achieve VESA’s ClearMR 10000 certification, which underscores their ability to deliver sharp and fluid motion.
Improved AI
LG is elaborating on the AI capabilities in the promotional materials for its new Evo TVs. Notably, the AI Picture and Sound Wizard features are designed to analyze over 1.6 billion picture settings and 40 million sound profiles, enabling users to tailor their audio and visual experiences to their individual preferences.
The newly introduced AI Remote for LG Evo 2025 TVs features a dedicated AI Button that directs users to the AI Concierge homepage, where they are welcomed by name and provided with personalized recommendations based on their viewing habits.
By pressing and holding the AI Button, users can activate the AI Voice ID feature, which recognizes the voices of different family members and automatically adjusts to their specific recommendations and content settings.

In select regions, including the US, UK, and South Korea, the AI-powered search feature on LG Evo 2025 TVs utilizes an advanced language model to better comprehend conversational context and identify underlying user intent, with the integration of Microsoft Copilot enhancing the user experience.
Consequently, all regions will gain access to the latest iteration of LG’s highly regarded AI Chatbot feature, which assists users in troubleshooting potential issues or answering questions about their TV, thereby reducing the need for direct contact with LG’s customer service.
Additionally, the AI feature includes a generative image gallery that allows users to create custom background images simply by providing the software with a few basic terms related to the desired image content.
WebOS 25
The most recent iteration of LG’s webOS smart platform now features multi-platform integration with Home Hub, enabling users to connect to various ecosystems for enhanced control over numerous IoT devices. Additionally, LG is advancing its webOS Re:New initiative, which promises buyers of new Evo TVs updates to the latest webOS versions for a duration of five years.
From the article, it is apparent that a key distinction between the new M5 and G5 Evo OLED models lies in the M5’s capability for nearly wireless operation. This model supports wireless video transmission at resolutions up to 4K / 144 Hz, along with lossless audio in Dolby Atmos.
