LG’s complete 2021 TV lineup

LG TV  2021 – what’s new?

Let’s start with the updated Alpha  9 and  Alpha  7 video  processors , which came out in the 4th generation. At the same time, the flagship  Alpha  9 received the abbreviation AI in its name, which indicates the use in its work of “deep learning algorithms to recognize scenes and genres and present the image in the best possible way, no matter what programs you watch,” as the company says.

As for the lineup, the highlight is the emergence of a new class of QNED TVs  , which use MiniLED backlighting in the  panel . In the LG hierarchy, they ranked high between  OLED and NanoCell. MiniLED literally means miniaturization of LEDs. Tens of thousands of these tiny light sources, coupled with thousands of local dimming zones, deliver higher brightness and contrast than conventional LED TVs.

img 60838f226d918Interesting changes have been made to LG’s premium OLED lineup  . First, the company is introducing an all-new A1 series designed to make the traditionally expensive OLED technology  more accessible to consumers. Second, the range of screen sizes  expands from five to seven with the addition of a large diagonal of 211 cm (83 inches) and a small diagonal of 107 cm (42 inches). Thirdly, the improved OLED Evo panel, which will be equipped with the LG G1 model, now stands apart from the usual brethren. And finally, LG decided to abandon  the W model , which for its thinness was nicknamed the “TV wallpaper”.

The rest of LG TVs, like  QNED , are based on LCD technology. Their more advanced representatives are brought into a separate class NanoCell. Budget LCD models close the hierarchy.

img 60838f22bf0adIn terms of design, we note the appearance of a floor stand for the LG OLED A1 , B1, C1 and G1 models  . It is purchased separately and is compatible with older OLED  B9 ,  C9 , BX,  CX ,  GX and other series models.

img 60838f22e77742021 TVs are equipped with an updated, sixth version of the webOS platform  . For the first time in many years, it has undergone a radical update, mainly affecting the home page interface, which stretches across the entire screen as opposed to the narrow ribbon of icons previously used.

img 60838f231327fThe Magic Remote has also been updated with a more ergonomic shape, as well as a new Magic Tap function for easily transferring content from a smartphone to a TV screen using NFC technology.

img 60838f233c04eAs before, LG TVs stand out from the competition with powerful gaming features, including support for HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM, eARC, AMD FreeSync, Nvidia G-Sync technologies. This year, a new feature, Game Optimizer, is introduced, which is a central hub in which information about all game parameters and settings is concentrated. Also note that this year, cloud gaming services Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now will become available for LG TV owners.

LG OLED  2021

LG OLED Z1 8K (195 cm, 223 cm)

It is the only 8K OLED model  . Its price tag is sky-high, but the combination of the highest resolution with the unsurpassed quality of  OLED is unique in itself. Of course, the model has the most advanced features, including a 120 Hz refresh rate, an Alpha 9 processor with a number of smart features, HDMI 2.1 support with accompanying VRR (G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium), eARC, ALLM, HDR10, HLG formats , Dolby Vision and  Dolby Atmos , Dolby Vision IQ technologies. Wireless communication technologies Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 are used.

The large screen version features a design with an integrated stand and a more powerful 80W audio system

The 195 cm version differs only in the traditional design and 60 W audio system

LG OLED G1 4K (140 cm, 165 cm, 195 cm)

This model has the marketing name Gallery, as it resembles a painting with its ultra-thin body. It is the only one of its kind equipped with an advanced OLED Evo panel  , the main feature of which is higher brightness. This TV is primarily intended for wall mounting and therefore does not come with a stand. However, it can be purchased separately in two versions: standard and floor-standing.

The main differences between the  1 and the  1 are screen resolution and design.

LG OLED C1 4K (122 cm, 140 cm, 165 cm, 195 cm, 211 cm)

This is the golden mean of  OLED . This year, the model has been replenished with a modification with a large 211 cm screen  .

Besides the standard panel  OLED , differences C1 from  1 lie in the design and the audio system. In C1 its power is 40 W, in G1 – 60 W.

LG OLED B1 4K (140 cm, 165 cm, 195 cm)

img 60838f240af57Unlike its older brothers, the  1 is equipped with an Alpha 7 processor and two HDMI 2.1 ports instead of four.

The main difference between these TVs and  QNED is that they operate on standard backlighting of two types – direct and side. This series got its marketing name due to the use of a special filter made of nanoparticles in the panel, which improves the image quality in comparison with traditional LCD counterparts. All models except NANO75 / 77 use full array local dimming.
