Beats Studio Buds: Lightweight and compact

After numerous leaks over the past few weeks, Beats has finally unveiled its new Beats Studio Buds all-wireless headphones. Unlike AirPods Pro, which are also in-ear headphones, the new Beats has a more compact size due to the absence of protruding “legs”.

The company notes that each earbud weighs just 5.1 grams. Three pairs of silicone ear cushions are available with the Beats Studio Buds in different sizes.

Playback control is carried out using physical keys on the headphones. One click pauses music or answers a call, two clicks switch the next track, three clicks turn on the previous one, and a long hold of the button switches ANC (on / off) and Transparency Mode.

8.2 mm drivers are responsible for sound reproduction. The headphones support Spatial Audio technology, which was recently made available on Apple Music streaming service. Beats Studio Buds are also equipped with six microphones, which are designed for voice transmission and operation of the active noise canceling system and transparency mode.

A Bluetooth module is designed to connect to sound sources. The earbuds didn’t receive Apple’s H1 or W1 chip. Instead, it uses a proprietary Beats chipset. Supports fast connection to iOS and Android devices. The Beats Studio Buds are also devoid of the U1 chip, so the Find My app will only be able to find out their last location when they were connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth.

In terms of battery life, the company claims 8 hours of battery life with the active noise canceling system turned off. Together with the charging case, the total time is 24 hours. But if you turn on ANC or Transparency Mode, then you can count on about 5 hours of work (15 hours with the case).

Five minutes of charging is enough for one hour of music playback. The case is charged via USB-C. Among other things, I note the presence of moisture protection according to the IPX4 rating and support for the Siri voice assistant.

Beats Studio Buds are available in three colors: black, red and white. Cost – $ 149.99. The first deliveries are scheduled for June 24th.
