The German company Magnat calls its latest Stereo Receiver, the MC400 model, an Internet CD receiver. Moreover, this phrase does not reflect all the capabilities of the device, assembled in a standard “rack” form factor.

Among the most traditional features of the MC400 are an FM and DAB+ tuner and a CD player with advanced track handling and even disc testing. Even more traditional, perhaps, should be considered the MM phono stage.

Of course, the MC400 is not an AV receiver, but it does have an HDMI port. In addition, Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX HD is not forgotten. According to the manufacturer, the device is Hi-Res Audio certified. The novelty supports Spotify Connect and other streaming services, as well as multi-room control via the Magnat app. A standard remote control is also provided.

System status (including album art) is displayed on a 2.8-inch 320 x 240 pixel color display. The USB port will allow you to read audio from memory devices, however, file systems are limited to FAT alone. There is also support for DLNA, the device connects to the network via Wi-Fi or cable.

The MC400 amplifier uses powerful bipolar transistors in the output stages, 60 watts in the sinusoidal channel and up to 100 watts in peak power are promised. Among the switching provided headphone output, subwoofer and pre-amplifier line output. There are two analog RCA inputs and one 3.5mm audio input on the front panel. Digital inputs – optical and coaxial – standardly work out signal resolutions up to 192 kHz / 24 bits.

All of this is housed in a durable aluminum body with aluminum controls, standing on feet with shock-absorbing rubber inserts.
