Mercedes-Benz unveils flagship electric SUV EQS SUV

Today, April 19, without pompous presentations and events, Mercedes-Benz officially introduced its flagship electric SUV called the EQS SUV to the world. It is worth noting that this is the fourth electric crossover in the arsenal of the manufacturer – the company has previously released the EQA, EQB and EQC. On the other hand, the novelty is built on the latest battery platform, which is also used in the EQS, and company representatives believe that the EQS SUV form factor will be more in demand among various categories of buyers due to the impressive trunk and a decent range.

The fact is that in the five and seven-seater configurations of the electric vehicle, the luggage compartment with folded seats boasts a volume of 2100 and 2020 liters, respectively. The passenger version of the EQS has a similar parameter of only 1770 liters.

At the same time, even the basic version of the EQS 450+ on rear-wheel drive gives the owner 360 horsepower with a torque of 568 Nm. This is also the most long-range version of the crossover – the basic version is capable of driving 660 kilometers on a single battery charge, which is almost a record by modern standards. The all-wheel drive model EQS 450 4Matic with the same power has a range of 613 kilometers, like the flagship crossover Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic (523 horsepower).

Of course, the manufacturer took care of supporting fast charging technology – all three versions of the crossover support 200-kilowatt charging. She, according to the company, is able to charge a car for 250 kilometers in just 15 minutes, which looks quite competitive in comparison with internal combustion engines. And the manufacturer also boasted a huge display across the entire width of the vehicle – this is a solid panel that combines the dashboard, the multimedia system display and the screen for the passenger. Although, it is worth saying that such a panel is installed only in the top-end configuration.

The flagship electric crossover also offers a panoramic roof, a head-up display, a unique air filtration system, premium trim materials and an expensive sound system.

There’s even some equivalent of Drive Pilot semi-autonomous driving, as well as the notorious technology to increase rear wheel turn by 4.5 or 10 degrees. The company said that the crossover is ready for driving outside the asphalt, but it is unlikely that anyone will check it.
