Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off its all-electric C-Class sedan, and this is far more than a simple electrified version of a familiar nameplate. The new model represents a clear departure from its combustion-powered sibling, both in design and in underlying technology, offering a distinctly modern take on what a compact luxury sedan can be.
At the heart of the lineup sits the C400 4Matic, equipped with a dual-motor setup delivering a combined 482 horsepower. Performance is brisk, with a 0–100 km/h sprint completed in just 3.9 seconds, placing it firmly in sports sedan territory. Built on an advanced 800-volt architecture, the car houses a 94 kWh battery that, according to Mercedes-Benz, enables an impressive driving range of up to 762 kilometers. Charging capabilities are equally forward-looking, with support for up to 330 kW as standard, and an optional upgrade to 400 kW. Under optimal conditions, just ten minutes of charging can add approximately 325 kilometers of range, making long-distance electric travel more practical than ever.
Buyers of the electric C-Class will benefit from Mercedes-Benz’s Agility and Comfort package, which pairs the Airmatic air suspension with adaptive, intelligent dampers and a rear-axle steering system. The result is a blend of ride comfort and agility that adjusts in real time to driving conditions. The model also introduces Car-to-X communication technology, capable of detecting and sharing information about potential hazards ahead, effectively giving the driver an early warning system for changing road conditions.
Inside, the cabin is dominated by the striking 39.1-inch Hyperscreen, a seamless, single-piece display that stretches across the dashboard. Rather than separate screens, Mercedes integrates the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment, and even a dedicated passenger display into one continuous glass surface, creating a futuristic and highly immersive user experience.
The panoramic roof has its own unique feature: it can change its transparency from completely transparent to opaque (in nine segments). For example, the user can darken the entire interior or specifically the front or rear seat areas. Also available are 162 illuminated stars, which can be activated with the ambient lighting package, with adjustable brightness and color to match the selected background.
The driver is supported by a suite of virtual assistants that skillfully operate 27 sensors. For example, the sedan can easily retrace its path in reverse. Eleven airbags ensure safety, with even a knee airbag available as an option.
Additionally, the new model received multi-mode heating, intelligent matrix lighting, and a Pre-Safe function that automatically tightens the seat belts when approaching a turn.
The price of Mercedes-Benz’s first all-electric C-Class sedan has not been disclosed, as sales are scheduled to begin in the first half of next year.
