Acer, as part of a series of press releases on the eve of CES 2024, presented two unique gaming routers, which are based on the advanced Qualcomm Immersive Home Platform and use the most advanced wireless communication protocol Wi-Fi 7 with three frequency bands to form a stable Internet connection. The flagship of the new line of routers is the Predator Connect X7 5G CPE model, which, as you can guess from the name, provides network connectivity not only via Wi-Fi 7, but also thanks to the 5G module, plus this router boasts a dual WAN connection to minimize connection interruptions.
The Predator Connect X7 5G CPE is the first device in the world to combine high throughput from Wi-Fi 7 and 5G in three BE11000 bands – due to this, the device is capable of transmitting data at speeds of up to 3.5 Gbps via the fifth generation cellular network /sec with extremely low latency of 1ms. In addition, the gadget provides the ability to simultaneously connect via 5G and Ethernet with a load balancing function and leveling out possible failures when working with the network. Unfortunately, as part of the press release, the manufacturer did not say anything about the cost of this router, so now it is impossible to evaluate it in comparison with other models based on Wi-Fi 7.
The company’s second device is the Predator Connect T7 Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Router, which also supports Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, but without a fifth-generation cellular network module. This router comes with support for expanding into a mesh system via a Wi-Fi connection, which is more convenient than wired solutions in certain scenarios. In fact, the press release states that this router is ideal for expanding a wireless network within a large home or premises. Acer also noted that both routers are equipped with a quad-core processor from Qualcomm, which has a positive effect on the speed of information transfer on the Internet and improves the performance of Wi-Fi 7.
And, as expected, both routers support Intel Killer Prioritization Engine technology, which allows you to optimize data transfer and correctly prioritize thousands of different video games, applications and websites. Thanks to this, routers will always give preference to video games so that the delay is minimal and there are no problems with lags or pings.
