Dark Project has officially unveiled its flagship mechanical keyboard called KD83a, which has a whole list of advantages. Perhaps it’s worth starting with the TKL case – a compact keyboard without the so-called “accounting unit” takes up much less space on the table, providing more room for mouse work. And, importantly, all the Fn-keys remained in their places, so the user is not limited in anything. Also on the keyboard case is a separate volume wheel made of metal, thanks to which you can adjust the sound of the system without interrupting watching movies or playing video games.
KD83A g3ms Sapphire
The KD83a keyboard line consists of four models:
- KD83A g3ms Sapphire – in blue-beige with g3ms switches
- KD83a LTD is a limited edition of KD83A g3ms Sapphire in a die-cast aluminum case with an Isolation Mount design and support for QMK and VIA
- KD83a LTD Kit is a limited edition keyboard without switches and keycaps for enthusiasts who want to assemble a unique custom model
- KD83a Mechanical Cap Teal – black and gray classic keyboard with Cap Teal switches

In addition, the keyboard boasts a line of g3ms mechanical switches that are lubricated for quieter, smoother operation. For example, the base version of the KD83a keyboard will come with g3ms Sapphire linear switches that boast an actuation force of 50 grams, plus they are lubricated with a special compound and made of ROM plastic and polycarbonate. Due to this, the manufacturer managed to achieve the most quiet and smooth key travel, as well as uniform backlighting of keycaps. And so that users were completely shocked by the silence of the novelty, the creators of the product laid silicone and silicone sound insulation in all places where the body elements come into contact.

The keycaps themselves are made of thick and fairly durable PBT plastic using double molding technology, which means that the characters on the keys will never be erased. At the same time, the keys support hot-swap technology, there is a bright customizable backlight for each key and a separate USB port in case the user needs to transfer data to a PC with quick and convenient access.
Dark Project KD83a g3ms Sapphire and KD83a Cap Teal will go on sale in November 2022, KD83a LTD and KD83a LTD Kit in December of the same year.
