Unfortunately, the development of modern technologies in the video card segment has led to the fact that the user needs to leave quite a lot of space inside the PC case – otherwise the graphics accelerator will not fit. For example, most modern video cards in the NVIDIA RTX 40 line require 3 or 4 slots in the system, which is due to the installation of a huge aluminum heatsink necessary for effective cooling of the GPU. But, of course, not all systems are able to allocate so much space for a video card, so engineers from GALAX (one of the most famous Chinese video card manufacturers) decided to create a unique model that will fit into absolutely any case and at the same time will not be inferior to competitors in in terms of performance.
We are talking about the RTX 4060 Ti video card, which in the case of GALAX occupies only one slot in the system. This is a unique case of its kind, because there are simply no competitors on the market that occupy the same amount of space. But the configuration of the video card was not affected by this – the manufacturer uses a standard printed circuit board, which is equipped with the same graphics processor and provides access to three ports for connecting to a monitor. That is, in technical terms, the new product from GALAX uses the same component base as any other RTX 4060 Ti on the market. The advantage here is only in the radiator and cooling system.
Typically, to cool a video card, manufacturers use a classic system with a radiator, heat pipes and two or three fans, which turn off in passive mode, but begin supplying cold air under load. In this case, the manufacturer preferred a turbine-based cooling system, when a fan takes air from the system and drives it through the video card, blowing hot air outside the case. And in this case the fan does not stop even in the case of very light loads on the system – it spins constantly, just at minimum speed. This, according to the manufacturer, is enough to cool a model with a maximum TDP of 165 W.
At the same time, the manufacturer himself calls the video card RTX 4060 Ti MAX – it has 16 GB of internal memory, an AD103-351 graphics processor with 4352 CUDA cores and a 128-bit memory bus. True, in reality this is just marketing, because NVIDIA has no trace of any RTX 4060 Ti MAX. But this unusual solution will actually have its buyer in certain scenarios. For example, in very compact systems, when installing a video card on 4 slots is not possible, you can use a single-slot model and additionally cool it with case fans.
