James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water, the third highest-grossing film of all time, is now available in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on TVOD (Transactional Video On Demand) online services . That is, not as part of a subscription to the service, but with a separate payment for viewing.

Disney decided to release the film, produced by 20th Century Studios , in the TVOD model before making it available on Disney+ via subscription (SVOD) .

The film is currently available in the US on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu for $19.99. But only Apple TV and Vudu offer it for 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos streaming with a variety of bonus content.

Unfortunately, the HFR (high frame rate) version is not yet available – the 48fps 3D version is still exclusive to theaters, but Kim Beresford , vice president of film production at Walt Disney Studios , recently told Hollywood Reporter that a “home” release of the film in HFR is a possibility.
