According to a recent report from Nikkei Asia, Apple partner Foxconn is already developing a cheaper version of Apple’s second generation headset. Although Apple’s first headset has yet to be announced, the report cites an unnamed executive with knowledge of the development who believes the first headset will be very expensive, at $3,000 to $5,000.

However, the source also said that Apple’s second generation headset is likely to be more affordable. This is in line with previous reports from The Information and Bloomberg , which also suggested that Apple plans to release a cheaper version of its AR/VR headset that will use affordable components such as low resolution lenses.

The first version of the Apple AR / VR headset has not yet been released, as Foxconn is preparing to release a budget version.

Cheap and expensive headsets will be developed on the basis of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. That is, an expensive version for professionals, and a cheap version for ordinary users and novice gamers.

The long-awaited first-generation headset is rumored to feature more than a dozen cameras, advanced eye and hand tracking, dual 4K lenses, and other advanced features such as a physical handle similar to the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown . In terms of software, the device is said to have an iOS-like interface with its own app store.

Apple has yet to make an official announcement about its AR/VR headset, but it is expected to unveil the device at WWDC 2023 in June.
