It took EA one month to notice a cheat in Star Wars: Battlefront II

Around October 2021, a cheat appeared on the network that allowed PC gamers to gain immortality in Star Wars: Battlefront II – the script tritely limited the minimum amount of health to one unit, so it was impossible to kill the character.Ā In December of the same year, this script gained incredible popularity, so it became quite difficult to find a session without cheaters, and some users made immortal not only themselves, but absolutely everyone in the session, thereby completely destroying the gameplay.

GamersĀ actively complained aboutĀ this problem, but only a month later, EA representatives officially announced that they had begun working on releasing a patch to fix the vulnerability.

Whatā€™s more, to anger gamers even more, the information that the studio has begun work on cheat protection did not appear in a post on the official social networks or on the developer blog, but on theĀ Reddit forumĀ in the Battlefield 2042 subreddit. There is Kevin Johnson, studio manager DICE, which operates under the auspices of EA, said that the studio has acknowledged the problem and is now working to fix all the problems in the code.Ā Previously, representatives of the publisher and developer did not officially recognize the problem, promising only to look into the situation.Ā And, most surprisingly, such a long patch release process, according to Johnson, is due to the holiday period.

ā€œEmployees returned to work only last week, so during the holiday period, progress on solving this problem, unfortunately, was rather limited.Ā But, nevertheless, it is still there – we will fix the bug and notify the community when this happens, ā€the message of the DICE manager on Reddit.

Unfortunately, the representative of the company did not provide any at least approximate information about the release date of the patch – he only stated that work was underway.Ā Meanwhile, online in Star Wars: Battlefront II is rapidly approaching zero.
