Electronics Arts and the creator of the Mass Effect Bioware series have confirmed the release of a new remaster of the series’ original trilogy called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition for consoles and PCs. The announcement was part of Bioware’s celebrations for N7 day and comes after intense gossip about the release of a remaster of the much-loved series.

The collection includes Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 as well as their various DLC and content packs. The new versions will not be a complete remake but Bioware intends to improve them so that gamers “enjoy the Mass Effect in its best possible form”. According to the official announcement on the Bioware site, this means better resolution and frame rate as well as improvements in shadows, effects and character models.

Mass Effect: Andromeda released in 2017 will not be part of the collection and even if on its own did not manage to achieve tremendous success, it was able to offer new content to fans of the series who had been enjoying a Mass Effect game since 2012.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released in 2021 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and will be available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S via backwards compatibility .
