Astell & Kern has released a low-cost portable digital-to-analog converter HC3 .
It is designed to be used as an amplifier for headphones equipped with a 3.5 mm mini-jack. The device is encased in an aluminum alloy housing and the installed connection cable is double shielded to provide a reliable shield against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference.
The DAC block is based on the ES9219MQ chip , which is characterized by low power consumption. The model can be used with any signal sources, including those working on iOS – a special adapter from USB-C to Lightning is included in the kit.
The company also offers a special application for smartphones and tablets on Android, which provides smooth volume control. The weight of the device is 20 grams .
