Ayre Acoustics Inc. introduced a new NET2 streaming module for its QX-5 Twenty DAC , turning this component into a complete network streamer that supports, for example, popular services such as TiDAL and Qobuz , and is also fully compatible with Roon . The Ayre QX-5 Twenty DAC has been on sale for six years now, and according to the manufacturer, the new NET2 module will revive interest in the model among music lovers. Ayre emphasizes that this module offers better performance and higher sound quality than the previous generation streaming module.
The Ayre QX-5 Twenty from the Ayre 5 series is a fully balanced D/A converter based on the ESS ES9038PRO chip from ESS Technology Inc. The model is equipped with a digital volume control, which allows you to connect it directly to a power amplifier or active acoustics. Ayre QX-5 Twenty also has a high-quality headphone amplifier on board.
Feature Ayre QX-5 Twenty is a modular design. When ordering a DAC, you can equip it with a USB-B port or a streaming module, which will complement the switching arsenal of the basic version – optical and coaxial digital ports, as well as balanced AES / EBU inputs.
The new Ayre NET2 streaming module for the Ayre QX-5 Twenty will be offered as an upgrade to the Ayre QX-5 Twenty with the first generation streaming module for €1,650. The new Ayre QX-5 Twenty DACs are available for €11,500 and will be bundled with the NET2 module straight away.
