The CSA70 delivers “an exceptional sound quality that goes beyond its power rating and price”.Ā It has four digital inputs, three analog inputs, a line-out function, as well as a pre-out terminal, a front 6.3mm headphone output.Ā The power amp puts out 70 watts per channel, and a phono stage has been added for the vinyl enthusiast.

Unlike its older brothers, the CSA100/CSA150, the CSA70 does not use tubes in a linear cascade.Ā The preamp section is a solid stage architecture with vanishingly low distortion.Ā The CSA70 boasts the same power amplifier technology as the CSA100/CSA150, with a feedback structure that is inherently faster than conventional amplifiers and a wide frequency response for large signals.

The amplifier, according to Copland, is designed to handle the most uncomfortable dynamic loads that loudspeakers can create, with superior transient handling capability.133 techweek

The path length in the CSA70 amplifiers is minimized by having the entire electrical sound architecture on a single printed circuit board.Ā This should minimize susceptibility to RF interference and other extraneous noise.Ā The CSA70 uses a precise motorized volume control.Ā Unlike most digital volume attenuators, it does not require additional electronics in the signal path.

The amplifier is protected from several over-range conditions that could be dangerous to it or to speakers connected to it, including DC bias, over-current conditions and thermal overload – this increases its resistance to external influences.
