The cartridge shows the output voltage increased from 40 mV to 70 mV (75%). Channel separation is significantly improved according to DS Audio, with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio unchanged, which has also increased. In addition to this, the new independent design of the DS003 cartridge has eliminated crosstalk and significantly improved left and right separation (in particular, the high frequency separation is improved by 10 dB over its predecessors DS Audio).
Weight reduction of more than 50% in the modified form, provided by a solid beryllium (99.9% purity) dimming plate (previously used aluminum). As a result, we were able to reduce the plate weight by more than 50%, from 1.56 mg to 0.74 mg. DS Audio cartridges have an incredibly low effective weight.
The novelty features an aluminum cantilever and housing, a rigid structure and improved internal wiring (1.6 times thicker than in second generation cartridges) to reduce impedance.
The preamplifier is an integral part of DS Audio optical cartridges, compared to the DS002 equalizer, the PCB has increased from 1.6 mm to 2.0 mm thick, and the thickness of the copper foil has grown from 35 microns to 70 microns.
Equalizer DS003 allows you to select the cutoff frequency for the low frequency range from four options.
