The Danish company Lyngdorf Audio at CEDIA 2023 presented its most powerful multi-channel amplifier Lyngdorf MXA -8400 , combining the proprietary PowerPerfect power supply with Eigentakt Class D amplification from Purifi, which provides eight channels of 400 W amplification when operating into a 4 ohm load when loading two channels.
The Lyngdorf MXA-8400 multi-channel amplifier will be an excellent partner for the company’s MP-40 2.1 and MP-60 2.1 AV processors, which are capable of decoding up to sixteen channels for Dolby Atmos and DTS-X installations. Lyngdorf Audio’s Roland Hoffmann notes, ” The Lyngdorf MXA -8400 was designed for Lyngdorf MP multichannel processor owners and home theater enthusiasts who have made a conscious choice to upgrade from AV receivers to best-in-class standalone units . “
Purifi’s Eigentakt technology, also found in a number of other amplifiers, most notably the NAD, delivers “extremely low” distortion and delivers “incredibly neutral sound with little audible noise” at any volume.
Lyngdorf’s latest PowerPerfect power supply has been specifically designed to handle the MXA-8400’s combined output power of up to 3.2 kW when all channels are driven. The power supply design uses channel balancing, filtering and multiple protection systems to overcome what the company considers a limitation of many multi-channel models.
The Lyngdorf MXA-8400’s output channels can be bridged in pairs, achieving 800 W per channel for four channels (8 ohms in bridged mode). The switching arsenal includes four pairs of balanced XLR inputs.
The start of sales of the Lyngdorf Audio MXA -8400 power amplifier is scheduled for November. The recommended retail price of the new product in the UK is £7,999
