Topping ‘s new model, dubbed the MX3S , is a small desktop DAC with integrated amplifier and headphone amp functions.
For use with passive acoustic systems, the device has a Merus class D amplifier that delivers 30 watts per channel with an 8 ohm load impedance . There is also an analog output for connecting an active subwoofer.
The DAC block is made on a chip from Asahi Kasei and can receive a signal from the USB port, optical and coaxial digital inputs. The maximum signal resolution is 24 bits / 192 kHz . Wireless functionality includes a QCC3040 Bluetooth adapter with support for LDAC and aptX HD codecs . A 3.5 mm jack is provided for connecting wired headphones, the maximum output signal power is 700 mW .
