Apple plans to update many of its accessories to include a USB-C port. According to insider and journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, this decision is due to the abandonment of Lightning in the line of upcoming iPhone 15 smartphones. In the latest episode of The MacRumors Show podcast, Gurman said that Apple wants to completely switch to USB-C in all its accessories by next year . Such a transition will obviously be a fairly quick process, as was the case with Lightning in 2012.
Gurman is confident that the company will upgrade the existing MagSafe battery with USB-C and is developing an all-new MagSafe Duo with this port. However, he doesn’t yet know if these accessories will be unveiled on September 12th. The insider also suggested that the discontinued Apple Watch charging dock could be reintroduced with a USB-C port. As for the new MagSafe, which is in development, the device is not ready for release yet. It is known that it uses a new concept that will allow you to charge two iPhones at once, or attach batteries in series to each other to charge one device using multiple batteries.
According to Mark Gurman, next week the company will introduce AirPods Pro with a USB-C port, but this will not be the third generation of wireless headphones, but only a minor update. According to him, brand new AirPods Pro should come out next year or early 2025.
