Xiaomi is preparing to announce a new line of flagship-level smartphones. Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing, as the date of the official announcement of the new Xiaomi 14 line approaches, traditionally stirs up the interest of the audience and gradually reveals details about future new products.
The head of the company published a teaser poster and clarified that Xiaomi, together with Leica, have developed the most advanced optics for smartphones to date. The new Leica Summilux lens will debut in the expected flagship line – Xiaomi 14, the announcement of which will take place on October 27, 2023.
Lu Weibing confirmed that the unusual optical system will be used for the first time in the new Xiaomi 14 series of mobile phones, which will be released this month. Moreover, according to a number of foreign sources, the Leica Summilux lens will have a high aperture ratio – F/1.4. Previously, Xiaomi smartphones did not have optics with such an indicator (for example, in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra the lens has an aperture ratio of F/1.9). Potentially, this could mean that the new smartphone will be able to shoot in more difficult light conditions compared to previous models.
It is also not yet entirely clear whether the entire line of devices will receive new optics – from the basic Xiaomi 14 model to the advanced Xiaomi 14 Ultra, or whether the “youngest” model will lose an advanced lens from Leica. However, the new smartphones will also have other interesting characteristics.
Several sources reported that the line will be equipped with a new mobile processor – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 . This flagship-level chip will provide not only an increase in performance, but also enhanced capabilities for algorithmic image processing (photos and videos). The processor will receive a liquid cooling system in new smartphones from Xiaomi, as follows from published leaks.
The smartphones will have a triple camera, each module will have a resolution of 50 megapixels. There is no word yet on what differences the basic and advanced version devices will have in terms of camera level. It is reported that the main sensor of the camera is an OmniVision OV50H matrix of 1/1.28 optical format.
Xiaomi 14 will have a 6.44-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Color depth – 12 bits. Maximum panel brightness is 2800 nits. There will be support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
A 4600 mAh battery is available with fast charging. Users will be able to choose from four memory configuration options, ranging from 12 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB internal memory.
It is also known that smartphones will be released with the new Xiaomi HyperOS operating system instead of the MIUI shell. The head of the company showed what Xiaomi 14 looks like with the new OS splash screen:
The presentation is expected on October 27, 2023. On the same day, Xiaomi will reveal all the details about the new HyperOS operating system, which will be able to work with various devices, not just the company’s smartphones.
