Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones will lose some MIUI 14 features

A few days ago, Xiaomi released the MIUI 14 firmware, which has many new features compared to the previous firmware.

However, it turns out that the owners of old smartphones will be able to use only some of the capabilities of the shell due to “inappropriate” hardware. The least “whimsical” hardware feature is the ability to translate text from pictures: to run it, you need at least a Qualcomm processor of the 7th or 8th series, or MediaTek not lower than Helio G80.

“Photon Engine”, which creates lighter and less resource-intensive applications, will only be available for smartphones based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips. Therefore, Mi10 series smartphones do not support new features.

Also interesting is the case with the ability to remove installed programs. According to some reports, only owners of smartphones released on 10/01/2022 will be able to use it – now only Mi 13 and Mi 13 Pro are on this list. Perhaps in the future, Xiaomi will refine the functions of MIUI 14 and reduce hardware requirements. Currently, the first beta version has been launched for 29 new models, including Mi 12, Mi 11, Mi Civi, Redmi K50, Redmi K40 and Redmi Note 11.
