The Chinese company AstrHori has introduced a new version of the macro lens 28mm F13 2x Macro Probe . The first version was released exactly a year ago, and over the intervening time the manufacturer, apparently having gained experience in the practical use of the lens, decided to somewhat update its design.
Now photographers and camera operators can rotate the front part, choosing the desired shooting angle.
Like its predecessor, the front of the body’s 25mm lens is waterproof, allowing it to be used for underwater shooting. The built-in LED flashlight serves to illuminate the subject, which is important since the lens aperture is small – only f/13.
Other aspects of the lens remain unchanged: the optical design also consists of 21 elements in 16 groups, the aperture range is f/13–f/40, the maximum magnification ratio is 2:1, and the minimum focusing distance is 0.48 meters.
The AstrHori 28mm F13 macro lens will be available for full-frame SLR and mirrorless cameras with Sony E, Canon RF and EF, Nikon Z and F, Leica L, Cine PL mounts.
What about the prices?
The first and new versions of the AstrHori 28mm F13 can be considered as an alternative to the much more expensive Laowa 24mm f/14 2X Macro Probe . At the same time, the new lens will be sold for $940, it has not yet appeared on sale, but the predecessor is already on sale at a discount – for $665 (was $739).
