According to the Japanese newswitch , Canon plans to introduce 7-8 new RF lenses per year:
“Canon will expand its line of RF lenses for mirrorless cameras. As of March 7, the fleet of RF lenses is 33 pieces. In recent years, 7 to 8 new products have been released annually, and I want to keep up this pace,” said Tsuyoshi Tokura, Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director of Imaging Group.
Tsuyoshi Tokura noted that the basic line of RF optics has already been created. However, over 70 EF-mount lenses have been produced for the SLR system, so the current EOS R system lineup is only about half of the EF lens range so far, so an expansion of RF optics is required.
Last year, in a presentation on the results of 2021 and a business development forecast, Canon promised to release 32 new RF-mount lenses by 2026.
