Tamron 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD introduced

Tamron has officially unveiled the 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD  wide-angle zoom  ( model A068 ) for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras, which was announced a month ago. Its sales will begin on October 19, the price will be $700.

The lens is quite compact, 114.4 mm long, weighs 460 g and, importantly, has an internal zoom, which means it remains compact when enlarged.

The optical design consists of 15 elements in 13 groups, including three low dispersion elements, one molded aspherical and two composite aspherical elements. The diaphragm is 9-blade, round. Tamron promises “outstanding bokeh.”

Focusing is driven by a fast and precise VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear drive.

The minimum focusing distances are 0.19 m at wide-angle and 0.3 m at body.

Tamron 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD, of course, is not too “light”, but its universal range of focal lengths with a fairly wide viewing angle, compact size, internal zoom and low price will certainly make it popular and sold.
