Onyx BOOX Poke5 is a multi-format digital book reader with a 6-inch E Ink Carta touchscreen (1072×1448 pixel resolution, 300 dpi pixel density) and backlight with adjustable brightness and color temperature. The cost of the device is $170, which may seem overpriced compared to other readers. However, BOOX Poke5 has an undeniable advantage – it runs on the Android 11 operating system, which makes the reader a universal gadget with the ability to run third-party applications.

BOOX Poke5 is equipped with Qualcomm quad-core processor, 2GB LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB eMMC permanent storage. The reader supports microSD cards for storage expansion. A battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh is responsible for autonomous operation, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 are responsible for communication. There is a built-in microphone and a USB Type-C port with OTG function that can be used as an audio jack for connecting headphones or other accessories such as a USB drive, mouse and keyboard.

BOOX Poke5 supports a wide range of formats including EPUB, AZW3, TXT, DOXC, HTML, PDF, CBR and CBZ. It can display PNG, JPG, TIFF and BMP images, or play audio in WAV and MP3 formats. However, you will need headphones, since there is no speaker here. Onyx additionally offers a cover with built-in magnets for $10. The BOOX Poke5 replaces last year’s BOOX4 Lite, which had less memory, a worse display, and was stripped of some features.
