On Saturday, April 3, Business Insider reported that the phone numbers and personal information of half a billion Facebook users were stolen and posted online in an unprecedented security breach. Now every social media account can be made public.

However, there are services that will help you find out if specific personal data has been compromised. And one of them is the site for tracking information leakage Have I Been Pwned. It is enough to go to the page and enter your email address almost to find out whether the account was involved in the Facebook hack or not. In addition, the site provides information about other violations as a result of which personal data could be compromised.

Also, users can check the security of their page using a mobile phone. To do this, you need to enter your number without hyphens and dots, before which you should indicate the international country code.

It is worth noting that I Been Pwned does not harm users. This site has established itself as a reliable assistant in the search for leaked information. What’s more, its creator, Troy Hunt, is the Regional Director for Microsoft Australia.

If the user has revealed that his personal information has been compromised, then in this case there are several options for further actions. First, you need to change the passwords of the hacked page. Second, it is advisable to use a password manager so that each site has unique protection. And third, users should enable two-factor authentication for added security.
