As part of the Snapdragon Summit event, Qualcomm has officially unveiled the brand new Snapdragon S7 and Snapdragon S7 Pro Gen1 audio chips, which will be used in the latest wireless headphones, smart speakers and more. The company notes that the new chips provide high sound quality, low power consumption and the ability to interact with technologies based on artificial intelligence. Moreover, the Snapdragon S7 Pro Gen1 model boasts support for a micro-power Wi-Fi signal, thanks to which devices receive much more flexibility during operation than the Bluetooth protocol can offer.
Actually, the Snapdragon S7 Pro Gen1 chip was clearly given more attention during the presentation, because the main advantages are implemented in the Pro version. For example, this processor supports Qualcomm XPAN technology, which the company itself calls revolutionary, as it allows you to transmit sound in maximum quality, ensuring coverage of the entire house or other living space. The technology also opens up access to lossless multi-channel music streaming at up to 192 kHz, as well as spatial multi-channel audio in video games. This is likely the technology that will significantly influence the development of the wireless headphone market.
Of course, the company could not imagine technologies that would be available exclusively on the latest Qualcomm chips. For example, as part of the presentation, company representatives stated that the new Snapdragon Sound technology will be used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon X Elite processors, so that when paired with a device based on the Snapdragon S7 or Snapdragon S7 Pro Gen1, the user will receive a completely new level of sound that It was previously impossible to obtain. And, judging by Qualcomm research, this is a very important point for many users – 69% of surveyed users put sound quality first when choosing a new gadget.
