Android TV owners protest auto-playing homepage ads

Many owners of Nvidia Shield consoles and other Android TV devices are outraged by the automatic playback of ads on the main page of the updated platform. As a result, the app’s rating began to plummet.

Recall that in February of this year, Google announced a change in the Android TV interface to make it more similar to the Google TV platform. It affected Sony TVs, Nvidia Shield consoles and other devices around the world.

The new interface focuses on recommended movies and TV shows from video services like Disney +, whether users have a subscription or not. In reality, this is an advertisement for new content, which often has an automatic playback function.

Of course, users are far from enthusiastic about the innovation, and many of them started giving low ratings to the Android TV app, which has dropped to one star on Google Play based on over 1000 reviews.

Meanwhile, the new Android TV interface will be rolling out to more and more devices. And by 2022, it is planned that this platform will be completely replaced by Google TV.
