The first smart TVs with Android TV 13 out of the box are likely to hit the market no earlier than next year.
After several months of testing, Google released the final build of Android TV 13. The update focuses on small improvements that only developers will notice and they are unlikely to somehow affect ordinary users.
Android TV 13 didn’t get major UI improvements. Instead, a new generation of Google’s proprietary OS for TVs brings new developer APIs and new access controls to make the platform even more user-friendly. Changes include enhanced physical keyboard layout settings, updated privacy controls, and a new power saving feature that allows devices to pause video playback when the HDMI signal changes.
You should not count on an early update of all compatible TVs to Android TV 13. So far, the latest firmware is available only to those who have the ADT-3 development kit.
