LG Announces Vibrating Screen 97-inch OLED TV

LG unveiled at K-Display 2022 a TV equipped with a 97-inch OLED.EX panel that offers not only higher brightness than traditional solutions, but also a ā€œcinematic level of immersionā€ thanks to a special sound source that is not produced by speakers , and the vibrating screen itself.

Sound output on the TV is provided by LG CSO (Cinematic Sound OLED) technology: behind the display is a thin film exciter that causes the screen to vibrate and play sound without speakers.Ā According to LG Display, the 5.1-channel system implemented in this way provides the viewer with a “cinematic level of immersion.”Ā A bold statement, given that there are no rear speakers.

High picture quality is ensured byĀ OLED EXĀ technology , introduced at the end of last year – it uses components with deuterium compounds, resulting in an increase in image brightness by 30% compared to traditional OLED screens.Ā LG DisplayĀ calledĀ the new productĀ “the largest OLED TV ever releasedĀ ,” but that’s not entirely true: in January, the company already announced a lineup with a 97-inch model, but without a vibrating screen – it will cost about $ 25,000, according toĀ FlatpanelsHDĀ , and for immersive sound will obviously have to pay extra.
