LG Electronics unveiled a 42-inch OLED Flex TV (Model LX3) at the IFA Electronics Show. Its main feature is the ability to change the curvature of the screen. The TV display can be manually or using a button on the remote control to transform from a completely flat state to a concave state with a radius of curvature of 900R (90 cm).

A similar technological solution has already been used in Corsair’s Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 gaming monitor , which, by the way, was developed in partnership with LG Display. It is also based on the OLED-matrix of the South Korean manufacturer, but with a diagonal of 45 inches.

LG notes that the Flex TV (LX3) uses the new fifth-generation Alpha 9 intelligent processor with support for proprietary image processing algorithms. The company emphasizes that OLED Flex has received several certificates confirming the absence of flicker and glare. The screen has LG’s “Super Anti-Glare” (SAR) coating, which reduces visual artifacts.

The TV screen can be tilted up to 20 degrees or tilted up to 5 degrees. The screen curvature function has several preset settings. The TV is equipped with a height-adjustable stand with a 140 mm up or down stroke. LG OLED Flex supports 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The screen claims 100% color accuracy, 0.1ms response time, low latency, and Dolby Vision support. The TV is equipped with two 40W front speakers.

The TV received support for several gaming functions. For example, for various game genres, virtual resizing of the image is provided up to 32 or up to 27 inches. The TV comes with a new Game app that supports personalized screensavers as well as quick launch shortcuts for popular apps like Twitch and YouTube. In addition, it also provides a list of connected external input devices. In the LG Gaming Optimizer menu, in addition to a variety of sound settings, individual picture and sound settings for certain game genres have been added. The game sound settings page has an equalizer, switches for AI Game Sound and Dolby Atmos, and other options that allow the user to fine-tune the gaming experience for themselves.

An HDMI 2.1 connector is provided for connecting a PC or consoles. The Switching Hub feature allows you to use the built-in microphone on the TV, as well as any devices connected via USB connectors, such as a headset or keyboard, with a PC connected via an HDMI cable. The TV also claims support for VRR, NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium and Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM).

The manufacturer did not report the cost of LG OLED Flex (LX3).
