Samsung became the largest TV supplier in 2022 for the 17th year in a row

Last year, Samsung was once again the top global brand in the TV market by revenue. This is a very important achievement, especially considering that the company, despite the efforts of competitors, has remained a leader for the seventeenth year in a row. For the first time, the manufacturer became the No. 1 TV brand in the world back in 2006 and has maintained its position since then.

According to Omdia researchers, the manufacturer accounted for 29.7% of all global TV sales in 2022. In the premium segment, with TVs starting at $2,500, Samsung accounts for 46.2% of sales in monetary terms, and in this respect the company has held the bar at 40% or more since 2019. What’s more, last year Samsung proved to be the absolute leader in the 75+-inch TV segment with a market share of 48.6%, more than the combined sales of other premium brands ranked second to sixth in this niche.

In 2022, the company sold 9.65 million premium models with quantum dot panels, aka QLED (including Neo QLED). From the introduction of QLED technology in 2017 to the end of 2022, Samsung has sold more than 35 million QLED TVs.

Of course, Samsung itself claims that it has remained in a leading position due to its attention to customer needs and the constant introduction of new technologies. So, already in 2009, LED TVs appeared, the first smart models began to be sold in 2011, and QLED models were introduced in 2017, followed by the premiere of new QLEDs in 2018, but with a resolution of 8K.

It is known that in 2021 the South Korean manufacturer introduced a series of Neo QLED TVs based on Mini-LED technologies, and Micro-LED models appeared in 2022, the premieres continue in 2023 . In addition, several stylish premium image series appeared, such as The Frame, The Serif, The Sero and The Terrace, as well as The Freestyle and The Premiere projectors and even the ambient light-powered Solar Cell Remote.
