The network has information that Samsung is in talks to provide its free streaming service TV Plus to other TV brands. Samsung’s free streaming service with TV Plus ads may soon be available on TCL TVs, as well as products from other manufacturers.
Renowned analyst Janko Roettgers writes in his Lowpass newsletter : “In order to expand the reach of its free TV Plus streaming service , Samsung is contemplating a move that seemed unthinkable not too long ago: the consumer electronics giant has approached some of its competitors about launching TV Plus . on their TVs . Apparently, in recent months, Samsung has been in talks about this with TCL.
Samsung TV Plus is a so-called FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming) service similar to The Roku Channel, Amazon Freevee, Vizio WatchFree+ and LG Channels. These services typically offer free TV channels that mimic the classic TV guide, with ads before, during, and after the show. Samsung TV Plus offers over 1,800 channels from all over the world.
Samsung has not yet commented on this information, but if it is true, then this will not be a big surprise. For example, the Roku service is available today on select Amazon FireVTV and Samsung Smart TV devices.
