A V-log gamma curve is proposed to increase the dynamic range. Auxiliary tools such as waveform, zebra and vectorscope help to monitor the image. You can embed custom LUTs in your footage and view LUT action in real time.
Hybrid autofocus
What users have been asking for so long has been done – Panasonic has implemented a hybrid autofocus system, it combines a contrast method and a phase detection method. The system has 779 points.
The difference between the S5II model with the letter “X” is the internal ALL-Intra recording in 5.8K format and ProRes 422 HQ recording in FullHD format. In addition, the “X” camera allows you to record 5.8K ProRes video to external SSD drives via HDMI or USB-C. A firmware update is pending that will allow recording ProRes RAW video on select Atomos external recorders. The LUMIX S5IIX supports IP streaming via Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet, and a USB tethering.
The housings of the S5II and S5IIX are made of magnesium alloy and are protected from dust and splash water. The cameras are equipped with full-size HDMI and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, which also serves for charging. The cameras support Wi-Fi 2.4GHz/5GHz and Bluetooth 5.0.
