Ricoh continues to introduce all sorts of limited editions of existing cameras instead of brand new cameras and this time has announced a limited edition ‘Diary Edition’ of its GR III compact camera. Of course, everything inside the Ricoh GR III Diary Edition remains unchanged, it received only a new color and “a preset inspired by photographs on negative film” .
Unlike the standard GR III black, the Diary Edition version has what Ricoh calls a “metallic warm gray finish” as well as a dark brown rubber grip. The lens ring and hot shoe cover are silver to contrast with the body, while the wheels, switches and shutter button are the same black as on the base GR III.

The new version of the camera also includes a brown leather strap and a canvas case with brown leather inserts.
According to the company, Ricoh is also introducing a new filter that “provides a delicate balance between rich colors and the unique fading found in negative film photographs . ” For now, this preset is available in this version of the camera, but in the future, through a firmware update, it will appear in other GR III/IIIx models.
Inside the camera is the same 24-megapixel APS-C sensor with 3-axis image stabilization and phase detection autofocus. There is also a fixed lens with a focal length of 28 mm and an aperture of F2.8, and on the back side there is a 3-inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 1.04 million dots.
The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition is limited to 2000 units. Ricoh said it will be available in late January 2023 from the company’s online store for $1,149.95, $150 more than the suggested retail price of the base GR III.
