HUAWEI P series smartphones have been competing with top models from the world’s most famous manufacturers for several years now. Some appreciate these smartphones for their excellent photo and video capabilities, others are crazy about the stylish and distinctive design of phones, and still others like the Chinese manufacturer’s own ecosystem and the ability to opt out of the services of the “corporation of goodness”.

What would you do if you want to emphasize the cool photo capabilities of a smartphone? Would you install a huge module with a visually enlarged camera lens in it? Or maybe they would make this module stand out as much as possible against the background of the back panel of the phone? Actually, this is exactly what most manufacturers of photo flagships do. But HUAWEI decided that this approach was too boring and placed an ordinary … camera on the back of the HUAWEI P60.

And no, it’s not bullshit! The HUAWEI P60 camera module is really very reminiscent of a full-fledged camera. The main camera located in its center plays the role of a large camera lens here, and two additional cameras are associated with a viewfinder and a flash. The real flash of the gadget in fact is almost not striking.

Against this background, the rear panel of the phone looks as neutral as possible, which once again focuses users’ attention on its cameras. It is made of uniform glossy black or green glass. If you’re worried about fingerprints, they’re almost non-existent even without the included silicone case.

Curved screens are still an indispensable attribute of flagships. . So the HUAWEI P60 has it, slicked closer to the side faces. On the right of them, the power button and volume rocker are quite freely located, and on the bottom you can see the speaker holes, a USB Type-C port, a dual SIM tray and a microphone hole.

The phone itself cannot be called very thin and light – it has a thickness of 8.3 mm and weighs 197 g. But there is a full IP68 protection against water and dust. Thanks to her, the smartphone can easily withstand heavy rain and “bathing” in water at a depth of up to 1 meter.

Screen

  • Resolution: 2700×1220 pixels
  • Refresh rate: adaptive, 1-120Hz

As we wrote, the HUAWEI P60 has a curved screen. It is built on a high-quality LTPO OLED-matrix with a diagonal of 6.67 inches and an increased resolution of 2700×1220 pixels. Thanks to the high brightness, the display of the smartphone remains well readable even in direct sunlight. Colors retain their richness, and the picture looks great in any conditions.

At the same time, you can flexibly control the color gamut of the screen. It also supports metameric color calibration, and high color accuracy is confirmed by two TÜV Rheinland certificates at once.

An adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz simultaneously saves energy and makes the picture smoother, which is noticeable both in games and when banal flipping through the interface. The manufacturer also took care of eye protection. Thanks to 1440Hz PWM dimming, the screen of the device is virtually flicker-free even at low brightness, thereby reducing eye strain and preventing them from getting tired.

Cameras

  • Primary: 48 MP, f/1.4–f/4.0, OIS
  • Wide-angle: 13 MP, f/2.2
  • Telephoto: 12 MP, f/3.4, OIS
  • Front: 13 MP, f/2.4

We have long been accustomed to the fact that out of 3-4 cameras of modern smartphones, only 1-2 sensors are capable of full-fledged shooting, while the rest play only an auxiliary role and are practically not used in real life. The HUAWEI P60 is different.

The smartphone received a main camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels, optical image stabilization and a physically variable aperture f / 1.4-f / 4.0, which automatically adjusts depending on scenarios and settings. The ability to change the aperture, the most transparent set of lenses and the RYYB sensor make the HUAWEI P60 a real all-rounder, equally good at shooting landscapes, group shots or night shots. In all cases, the quality remains simply excellent. If you still associate 48 megapixels with budget devices, here’s a simple fact: the Pro version of the same HUAWEI P60 with exactly the same camera has already taken first place in the professional DxOMark camera phone rating.

Next to the main camera of the device is a 12 MP telephoto lens, which also received optical stabilization for easier shooting of distant objects. By the way, about the last. Thanks to XMAGE technology, shooting the moon here becomes a real routine. And against its background, you can capture other objects without losing the quality and clarity of the picture. At the same time, the phone uses a new design of the zoom scale in the form of a ring to control the zoom. It looks pretty interesting.

The smartphone’s wide-angle camera has, in general, a standard resolution of 13 megapixels and does not stand out much from competitors. The selfie camera of the model is quite up to par. Its 13 megapixel resolution allows you to take clear and high-quality self-portraits with a lot of details.

Hardware and performance

  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Built-in memory: 256 GB

Performance is good here. The flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G chipset is responsible for it, which means that the phone’s interface will not slow down, and the gadget itself will cope with any programs, including the most “heavy” games.

Moreover, he is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM sufficient for any tasks, and 256 GB of internal memory is provided for storing photos, videos, games and applications. However, the latter could well have been more.

The operating system is, of course, Harmony OS. And the app store is also branded – AppGallery. Which, by the way, is only a plus in modern conditions – there are already about 1 million applications, including those that have disappeared from Google Play from domestic developers (VK, Yandex) and banking services. Moreover, inside the applications it is possible to pay both with MasterCard, Visa, and from a mobile phone account or QIWI Wallet.

Battery

  • Battery: 4815 mAh
  • Fast Charging: HUAWEI SuperCharge 66W

The gold standard of 5000 mAh sometimes fails in flagship smartphones. So the HUAWEI P60 has a slightly less capacious 4815 mAh battery. But even it is enough for a whole day of active use of the phone without any problems.

As a useful bonus, the smartphone supports 66W SuperCharge wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Results: our opinion about HUAWEI P60

The HUAWEI P60 turned out to be a perfectly balanced smartphone with many strengths. This is a high-quality OLED screen with eye protection, and an excellent set of cameras, including an innovative telephoto lens for capturing distant objects, and a powerful processor. There is also sometimes so useful high-power fast wireless charging, and the Turbo function will completely allow you to recharge your smartphone battery in a matter of minutes.

If you still need something more, we advise you to take a closer look at the HUAWEI P60 Pro, which received an even faster 88W wired charging and a 48MP telephoto lens also with optical image stabilization.
