Beosound Explore: Ideal outdoor speaker from Bang & Olufsen

Beosound Explore Review
Beosound Explore Review

Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore comes to show that you can have quality, design and the support of one of the leading brands in the segment without having to mortgage a kidney… or two.

If you are looking for a speaker that gives you good results and that you can also use both indoors and outdoors, keep reading as today we reveal everything you need to know about this model.

Design

This Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore is a  wireless portable speaker available in five colors: navy blue, gray, brown , black and green . At first glance, it has a fairly traditional design, but if we look at the details we find those premium touches that the brand has accustomed us to.

We find a handle to make it easier for us to transport it or place it somewhere, in addition to  IP67 resistance , which means that we do not have to worry about dust or water, in case we want to use it outdoors.

Its dimensions are 124 x 81 x 81 mm and a weight of 637 grams (including the carabiner). At the top we find five physical buttons to control all aspects of our music (volume, forward or backward, play/pause…).

Its ribbed structure is covered with an anodized aluminum casing, which also makes it scratch-resistant and effectively protects it against accidental knocks. Hence its name: it is a model suitable for explorers and adventurers. Its shutter effect design allows the sound to come out much better and with a more enveloping effect. But we want to talk to you about that in the next section.

Sound quality

It is one of the brand’s most “economical” speakers. Because it is undeniable that Bang & Olufsen is not exactly a brand for all audiences. Or rather, for all budgets. But in this case they give us a product that, without being especially cheap, does represent an entry-level range to their catalogue. A whim that many will be able to afford if they want to try the benefits of this manufacturer on their own skin.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore offers us  360º sound , with spatial quality audio. Its design influences this, but also the components that we find inside and that are precisely focused on offering us this quality. In addition, it is worth noting that if you want to enhance its sound and its surround effect even more, you can  pair two speakers to use their stereo sound.

The maximum power of each speaker is 60 W. More or less the manufacturer estimates that it is enough for a space of about 30 square meters. Likewise, we can also use the  customizable equalizer so that the sound sounds to your liking. You can use this (and other functions) from the  Bang & Olufsen app .

Inside we find  two 1.8″ speakers . The frequency range is  56 – 22700 Hz and its maximum sound pressure is  91 dB SPL . Another fact that may be interesting for the most connoisseurs of sound is its bass capacity, which in this case reaches  59 dB SPL .

Compatibility, battery and connectivity

We have already told you about the app compatible with this speaker. To use it, we use Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity  , which in turn is what is used to connect the speaker with the sound-emitting device. Thanks to this, we eliminate dependence on cables and we can take it anywhere with total freedom.

And we also achieve freedom thanks to its excellent autonomy. Its 2,400 mAh capacity translates into a range of up to 27 hours of music . And why do we say “until”? It’s simple: when we talk about autonomy, we must always keep in mind that it is calculated based on the results of tests in certain environments and conditions. In the case of speakers, it is calculated with an average volume. If you always use a very high volume, if you continually turn the device off and on, etc., the autonomy will decrease. It is normal.

Charging is done via  USB-C , so we can use any cable we have with us (it is the standardized cable). This is super interesting especially if you plan to use it outside the home. It’s a pain to have to carry a toiletry bag with a zillion different cables. Charging time is approximately  2 hours .

This speaker is Made for iPhone (MFi) certified  , allowing for quick pairing with Apple devices. But it also offers us  Google Fast Pair and  Microsoft Swift Pair .
