Beosound Emerge: Book-shaped wireless speaker from legendary Bang & Olufsen

Beosound Emerge

Bang & Olufsen’s new Beosound Emerge is a compact, stylish device to sit on a desk or shelf. The design was done by Benjamin Hubert of Layer (who also helped create the Beosound Balance speaker ).

The new Emerge is powered by wireless Wi-Fi technology. A single 37 mm angled main speaker, a 14 mm soft dome tweeter and a 100 mm multi-sided dispersion woofer are responsible for reproduction. According to B&O, these emitters are enough to “fill a room with sound.” The manufacturer has used a number of proprietary technologies designed to provide optimal sound.

It is also worth noting the possibility of pairing with another Emerge speaker for full stereo sound. In addition, the speaker can be connected to modern B&O network loudspeakers in a multi-room format.

There is also support for AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, and later Beolink technology will be available. From the “basic” functions, the manufacturer singled out Bluetooth 5.0, Ethernet and a combined Line-in / Optical connector.

Selected natural materials have been used for Beosound Emerge, including wood, fabric and aluminum, according to the company. The column can be controlled through sensors with indicators on the upper edge.

In Europe, the novelty has already appeared on sale. The cost of the Beosound Emerge in Gold Tone was 750 euros, while the alternative, dark Black Anthracite finish was asked for 600 euros.
