Hisense E7HQ: Restrained and very economical Smart TV

Hisense 50E7HQ Review
Hisense 50E7HQ Review

Hisense 50E7HQ is a TV that is simple to look at but that hides functions that are much larger than we would think, such as QLED, a generous native contrast, game mode and some other surprises that I will discover throughout this analysis. Of course, we are also going to discover some negative point. Let’s see!

Design and connectivity

Dimensions and weight of the television

This image perfectly explains the weight and measurement details of the television. We are missing the profile of the panel when we remove the support, which is, for the thickest part, 74 mm . In its design without bezels we find that the lower frame is 14.7 mm . In this same situation, the lightness of the panel stands out . This will be able to be hung, of course, with a VESA 200 x 300 mm .

The color chosen for the front , which is really only present in this frame, is dark grey ; for the support and the rear part the conventional black is maintained .

In both cases, the panel embrace is made of plastic . Of course, there is more to sharpen the eye to realize the good finishes of this. In fact, they are impeccable and, in addition, completely rounded edges have been chosen , which are always easier to integrate into different decorative styles.

Tuning and connectivity

You will find it strange to know that this model lacks an analog tuner , something, on the other hand, logical in China, where it is designed. I have to say that this is not a problem at the moment but of course I must tell you about it. You will find full digital tuning , an updated HbbTV 2.0.3 and CI+ ECP v1.4 .

The wireless connectivity that we will enjoy with the Hisense 50E7HQ is WiFI ac (with 2.4 and 5 GHz) and bluetooth 5.0 .

Unlike his older brother of 55, in 50 inches the model does not have 2.1 for HDMI , staying at three of 2.0 . The same goes for the two USB ports , which are 2.0 . For the rest, we found the same: Ethernet LAN RJ 45, optical output, audio L/R, S/PDIF, 3.5 mm headphone output, double RF tuner, CI+ slot and AV input .

Image quality

For the Hisense 50E7HQ Hisense chooses a VA LCD type panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels whose backlighting is direct LED while having a QLED   (Quantum Dot Technology) system for color treatment. Precisely its color depth is distorted to 10 bits to cover 90% of the DCI P3 colorimetry .

We find a very restrained brightness of 250 nits , although we also discover an active contrast of 3800:1 . The movement works with a native frequency of 60 Hz that can be reduced to 50 in less demanding cases. In turn, Hisense incorporates Picture Criteria Index technology at 2000 points , which is responsible for improving the work in frame interpolation. We found that for this reason, the TV can have a game mode with which to enjoy your favorite titles playing with less than 20 ms of input lag.

We have a good image but it is not a model designed to live cinematographic experiences

The HDR support of the Hisense 50E7HQ will go through the long-awaited Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and HLG . For video games we did not find availability to use HGiG.

Audio

A Hisense slip when assembling this model is its sound power, which is 16 W RMS in total. I have to say that this is not enough, because my television is 20 W and I have never had the need to bring it even 50%, but, taking into account the market, I think that it should be installed now, for any television, the standard. Be that as it may, for the price, 16 W is still ideal.

Very good to know that we have compatibility with both Dolby Audio and DTS, with MS12, AC-4 and Virtual X. Added to this we find a simple five band equalizer as well as the possibility of enjoying stereo sound with NICAM Stereo .

Software/smartTV

For Hisense TVs, VIDAA U is always seen as the operating system. This is because it is your own. On this occasion we already have the VIDAA U 5.0 version .

As for this, first of all, we will highlight that, together with the LG OS, it is in the top in security for television OS.

Its interface has improved a lot compared to its first versions, becoming truly competent in this regard. And it is that now the functions and the contents are clearly found ; everything is very well defined in a beautiful and intuitive background.

In addition, it is now more complete, having a search engine on the main screen that allows us to use it much faster (in other systems or in previous versions you had to look for the search engine, curious and redundant, yes, to be able to use it).

We have VIDAA U 5.0

The number of applications that come pre-installed and that you can use just by turning on the TV is immense. There are already mythical ones like Netflix, Prime Video or YouTube but also other lesser known ones like Deezer, UFC, SweetTV and even some of the system like VIDA Art or VIDAA Free.

Among them you will find both the search engine (although we also have it as a magnifying glass on the main interface screen) and the Vewd browser . The same happens with the app stores (there are two, the App Store and Hungama Play) and with the multimedia player .

Surely you will also be interested to know that you can give orders and ask questions to your own voice assistant, OK Google or Alexa , according to your preference.

  • Beyond the line of apps and, below, the video recommendations, in the main interface we find a few options . These are
    Seeker.
  • The different input sources from which to view the content and the options to share the screen or share content (watch out for this option in which we do not see the full screen of our linked device but only what is being played, tremendously useful); Anyview Cast is really quite adequate,
  • Settings.
  • notifications.
  • VIDAA U profile.
  • Voice assistants .
